Le Niole - Mare Aux Cochons Trail
Service Description
Located in the Morne Seychellois National Park Range at approximately 350 metres above sea level, this five hour trail is one of Seychelles prominent eco-tourism areas. Interposed within the Port Glaud wetlands system and the famous Anse Major beach, this trail epitomises the natural beauty of the Seychelles and its numerous conservation and forest restoration efforts. Abundant in fauna and flora, you get to walk beneath the canopy of vakwa parasol (Peter’s Plant), cinnamon and zanbrosa trees, to name a few. The trail, beginning at either Dan Zil or Le Niole, provides the most breath taking views of Beau Vallon and Silhouette on the horizon. Precarious and sometimes hard, the journey, though slippery and dangerous to the faint hearted, is a great test of endurance, passion and love for nature. The trek ends at Port Glaud, providing hikers the opportunity to explore the Port Launay Mangrove plantation, the waterfall and enjoy Port Launay beach close by before returning to the hotel via the provided transfer vehicle. The trip is punctuated by breathtaking scenery, predominantly, of that overlooking Beau Vallon Bay. Against a backdrop of green lush vegetation, the trekker learns about the variety of fauna and flora that can be found along the trail. Expert guides are always on hand to show and talk you through each step of the trail ensuring nothing is missed.
